General Electric IS200VAICH1CBA VME Analog I/O Board

BOARD CHECK • GE MARK VI
IS200VAICH1CBA analog I/O board
This is the VME card to check when a Mark VI cabinet uses VAIC processing for analog field loops. One arrangement covers 20 input points and four output points through compatible terminal hardware. Send the complete CBA label—not a shortened model—when asking for stock.

Where the VAIC board sits in a Mark VI cabinet

Inside a Mark VI cabinet, the IS200VAICH1CBA occupies a VME-rack position between the controller and the analog terminal wiring. Field cables do not land on the VAIC card itself; they normally terminate on compatible TBAI boards, with the measured values passed onward for control use.

The VAIC board handles up to 20 analog inputs and four analog outputs when connected to two compatible terminal boards. It converts incoming analog signals into digital values and transfers the resulting data through the VME backplane. For output processing, the board converts digital commands from the controller into analog current signals for the connected customer circuits.

Signal Acquisition

Twenty measurement points can be assigned through a pair of matching terminal boards.

Analog Control

Four command channels return controller decisions to the field side.

Flexible Architecture

The same board family appears in simplex cabinets and in triple-redundant layouts; the surrounding hardware decides the arrangement.

Purpose & Functional Role

During each scan, the VAIC reads the analog values arriving from the terminal-board side and makes those values available to the Mark VI controller over the VME backplane. This is the path used by typical pressure, flow, temperature-converter and position-feedback signals.

The output path works in reverse: four controller values are converted into current signals for external circuits. Because input and output duties share the same card, a failed VAIC can affect several unrelated loops at once-useful information when tracing a cabinet fault.

Channel choices are set on the connected terminal hardware, so replacing the VME card does not remove the need to inspect jumper positions and cable routing. In a TMR cabinet, also record which rack and signal branch the old board came from before removal.

Application Fields

⚡ Power Generation
Common in turbine packages where pressure, flow and valve-position loops must remain available during an outage restart.
Oil & Gas
Useful for compressor-train controls and other packages that still depend on Mark VI VME hardware.
Heavy Industry
Kept as a strategic spare by mills, refineries and process plants with older GE control cabinets.

Questions buyers usually ask about IS200VAICH1CBA

Q1. Can this card run a turbine by itself?

No. The VAIC is an I/O card, not the main processor. It depends on the Mark VI rack, controller, backplane and terminal boards already installed in the cabinet.

Q2. Why do listings mention both 20 inputs and two terminal boards?

The total belongs to one VAIC arrangement. The field points are normally split between two compatible terminal boards, while the VME card performs the conversion and data transfer.

Q3. Does a CBA board fit every Mark VI rack?

Not automatically. Simplex and TMR installations use this board family, but compatibility still depends on the rack assignment, cabling, terminal-board type and the revision accepted by the site configuration.

Q4. What information prevents a wrong-board shipment?

Provide the entire label-not only IS200VAIC-plus photographs of both connector edges. If available, add the terminal-board model and the slot location noted during removal.

Q5. Which document is useful during a cabinet check?

The GEH-6421 Mark VI guide is a useful starting reference for system architecture and VAIC-related signal handling. Site drawings and the installed hardware record should take priority for an actual replacement.

Notes for requesting this exact board

For an IS200VAICH1CBA enquiry, photograph the white identification label before packing the old board. Include the quantity and delivery country. This small step is more useful than sending a generic Mark VI description.

If the card has already been removed, note its rack and slot while the cabinet record is still available. Where possible, add the connected terminal-board number. We can then discuss the CBA revision without guessing from a shortened model.
