Functional Overview
The 8717-CA-PS module performs two core functions within the PAC8000 distributed I/O rack:
1. Power Module Enclosure
This module houses a single 8910-PS-DC power supply-a DC input power supply that converts field DC power into regulated 12V power rails required by PAC8000 electronics. The carrier secures the power supply module, facilitating installation and replacement without affecting adjacent modules.
2. Backplane and Field Power Distribution
After power supply installation, the carrier connects the DC power rails and signal lines to the PAC8000 backplane. It features six screw terminal output ports for 12V DC distribution, powering field devices and I/O cards within the node.
3. Rugged Industrial Mounting Structure
Supports DIN rail or panel mounting, integrating into control cabinets and racks via standard industrial hardware.
4. Harsh Environment Adaptability
Operating temperature range spans -40°C to +70°C, suitable for demanding industrial environments. As part of the PAC8000 carrier board series, it can also be deployed in hazardous locations when equipped with compatible power supplies and I/O modules.
Installation
Power Supply Configuration: Before installation, insert a compatible DC power supply (such as the 8910-PS-DC) into the carrier board slot.
Mounting Method: Secure the carrier board with its clips onto a top-hat rail conforming to the EN 50022 standard DIN rail, or mount it onto a flat panel according to the cabinet design.
Field Wiring Terminals: Connect the regulated 12V DC output via 6-pin screw terminals to power the I/O modules.
Backplane Alignment: Slide the carrier board into the PAC8000 backplane, ensuring the bus connectors properly engage with adjacent modules.
